U N B O U N D E D is the second installation in an ongoing series exploring belief through material and gesture. Inspired by memories of daily rituals, I incorporated humble, primitive tools—some drawn from my childhood home. Though these objects may feel unfamiliar today, their associated actions remain universally recognizable, inviting a quiet connection across time and culture.
Each tool was handcrafted from wood, with surfaces coated in powdered, pre-fired ceramic to emphasize fragility. Color was used to suggest the intangible presence of belief—something unseen, yet deeply embedded in routine. Silver leaf was added to select areas, for its ability to vibrate optically—drawing the viewer’s eye much like reading a line of text. In this context, silver becomes a visual rhythm, prompting the viewer to engage with the work as both object and language.
The installation originally featured video projections cast directly onto the tools, reenacting the gestures they were designed for. This interplay between image and object offers an intimate viewing experience, merging the physical and the performative.
Raised in a Lutheran household without religious icons, I became attuned to how belief could be expressed through ordinary acts. While this work begins from a personal reflection on spiritual faith, U N B O U N D E D ultimately speaks to a wider understanding: that any form of belief—religious, personal, or collective—requires action to be sustained. It is through repetition, care, and gesture that belief takes shape in the world.

『U N B O U N D E D』は、物質と所作を通して「信じること」を探求するシリーズの第二作目です。日々の儀式的な記憶にインスピレーションを得て、素朴で原始的な道具——一部は幼少期の家庭から引用されたもの——を用いて構成されています。これらの道具は現代では馴染みがないかもしれませんが、それに伴う行為は今も多くの人にとって直感的に理解できるものであり、時代や文化を超えた静かなつながりを生み出します。
すべての道具は木で手作業によって作られ、その表面には壊れやすさを強調するために粉砕した素焼きの陶が塗布されています。色彩は、目に見えないながらも習慣の中に深く根づく「信」の存在を示唆します。選ばれた部分には銀箔が施され、視覚的に振動する性質によって、あたかも文章を読むかのように鑑賞者の視線を引き寄せます。この文脈において、銀は視覚的なリズムを生み出し、作品を「物体」と「言語」の両方として体験させます。
このインスタレーションは、もともと道具に直接映像を投影する形式で展示されていました。映像と物体の交差によって、鑑賞者に身体的かつ親密な体験をもたらします。
宗教的な偶像のないルター派の家庭で育った私は、信仰が日常的な行為を通してどのように表現されるかに敏感になりました。この作品は、個人的な霊的信仰の記憶から始まっていますが、最終的にはより広義の理解を促します。宗教的なものであれ、個人的または集団的なものであれ、あらゆる信仰は、持続するために行動を必要とします。繰り返し、配慮、所作を通じてこそ、信念はこの世界の中で形を持つのです。

《U N B O U N D E D》是持續創作系列中的第二件裝置作品，透過材料與動作探索「信念」的本質。靈感來自日常儀式的記憶，創作中運用了樸素而原始的工具——部分來自童年時的家庭物件。雖然這些工具在當代社會中已不常見，但它們所對應的動作依然具有普遍性，能夠在時代與文化之間建立起一種靜謐的連結。
每件工具皆以木頭手工製作，表面覆以粉狀素燒陶，以凸顯其脆弱性。色彩則用來表現信仰這一看不見但深植於日常習慣之中的存在。局部添加的銀箔因其視覺震動的特性，如同閱讀文字般吸引觀者的目光。在這樣的語境下，銀不僅成為視覺節奏的一部分，也讓觀者將作品同時視為物件與語言。
本作品原始展示形式為將影像直接投射在工具上，重現其使用時的動作。這種影像與實體的交錯，為觀者帶來更親密的身體性體驗。
我在一個沒有宗教偶像的路德宗家庭中成長，逐漸學會感知信仰如何透過日常行動來體現。儘管本作品始於個人的靈性反思，但其指向更廣泛的理解：無論是宗教性的、個人性的，或是集體性的信念，都必須透過行動來延續。唯有透過重複、關懷與身體的實踐，信仰才能在世界中具象化、成形。
