Katie Strachan is a transdisciplinary artist working between Japan and the United States. Her ceramic practice incorporates materials such as wax, wood, and fiber to form sculptural manuscripts, installations, and video works. Informed by the doctrine and material culture of her Pennsylvania Dutch heritage, her work weaves together threads of femininity, dark humor, and inquiry. Strachan’s pieces function as both relics and texts—preserving and reflecting on the routines of action, sexuality, and silence.
